Prosperity equals to happiness?

Although we are a prosperous country , are we a happy country? Singapore has a rather high human development indicators , in fact , ranked twelf in then world . While China is ranked 90. For Sinagpore , the poverty index is n.a , which may very well mean no poverty. While China has a poverty index of 0.023. Despite being more "prosperous" than China, are we really happier than them? The answer is , no. Singapore has a happiness index of 39.8 while China has an index of  44.7 .

Why is this so? I think, this is because of the fact that everyone is just thinking of making more and more money that they didn't really ever have the time to leave all works behind and just enjoy. Even in holidays , parents always are still captivated by their work . Despite , this will make us richer, we might not be happy.

In countries like Myanmar and Laos , where it is not so prosperous, their people are living a simple yet meaningful life. Grow ups don't get all obsessed with making money , resulting in the families spending more quality time together.  And also the people there find joy in all sorts of activities . Running around playing catching , swimming in the river climbing trees . These are all the little stuffs that they do and find joy in. While in Singapore, we are more limited to what we can do.

To conclude , for a country to be very successful , it must not only be economically prosperous but als its people has to be happy and proud to be its citizen . As the saying goes all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
