Even though we are a relatively prosperous country, Singapore is not a happy country. Why? Because Singaporeans are discontent and we are not grateful for all the wonderful things that we have. We are always complaining and forget to stop and take a look around us, rather than worrying about how we are going to earn even more money. If we stop and take a look around us, we see people who are not as well-to-do as us having more fun and having bright smiles plastered onto their faces, a complete opposite of the frowns that we constantly have on our faces. They are happier than us because they know to be thankful for all that they have.
Being rich does not mean being happy. There are plenty of wealthy people out there who are unhappy. Maybe because they think that they still do not have enough money and are greedy for more. They may be unhappy due to other reasons as well, some that we might not even know of. There are many people who are poor, but are still happier, even happier than those who are rich. This is because they have been through countless hardships and know how to be thankful for having a roof over their heads or having food to eat, etc.
The happiest country in Asia is Bhutan, a small country located in South Asia. It is also ranked the eight happiest country in the world. They are not rich and in fact, Bhutan is one of the world’s poorest and least developed countries. However, this has not stopped them from being happy and enjoying their lives in Bhutan.
